Since 1880, Dave Nichols’ family has been growing grapes on their Lewiston, New York vineyard. Today, Dave cultivates their land alongside the family’s fifth generation of grape farmers. It’s his wealth of experience along with passion for new technologies that help them produce the finest grapes possible for Welch’s. For Dave, growing grapes is a lot like raising children.
“A grapevine you have to train up on a trellis much like you would train a child the right way to go in the world.”
It’s that unique perspective that helps Dave carefully grow the highest-quality grapes to use in each of our Welch’s grape products. It’s Dave’s desire to be the best farmer he can be in order to produce an exceptional crop. And, as he likes to tell people,
